Did you know that 14th June is World Cucumber Day?
We didn’t either.
Did you also know that you can exchange a cucumber for free drinks on that day?
If you’re at all familiar with Hendrick’s Gin, then you know that it’s not your typical London Dry. Instead of a juniper bomb, you get a gentler spirit something more akin to a pot of flowers.
A pot of flowers with plenty of cucumbers stuffed into it, that is. An unusual flavour, to be sure, but one that works well in a drink looking for its sensitive side. Such as, for example, a Gin and Tonic.
To prove it, the folks at Hendrick’s will be working with ten bars in Singapore. On Wednesday, 14 June, between 5 to 9pm, bring a Japanese Cucumber to those bars. You’ll be able to exchange one for a complimentary Hendrick’s & Tonic Cocktail – which is basically a Gin and Tonic with Hendrick’s and a cucumber garnish. If you’ve not had one before, it has a calming quality that one doesn’t usually get from their G&T.
There are some conditions however. Each person can only “cash in” one cucumber per bar, and only the first 60 customers per bar will qualify for the exchange. You’ll also need to hand in a whole Japanese Cucumber, so we advise reining in your impulse to nimble on the crunchy little fellows.
The list of participating bars is below:
- Oxwell & Co
- Nutmeg & Clove
- Library Bar
- Smoke & Mirrors
- Bitters & Love
- Jekyll & Hyde
- CrackerJack
- The White Rabbit (The Rabbit Hole)
- Tess Bar
- Anti:dote
Well, exchanging a cucumber for a drink sounds like a pretty good deal for us. Be sure to head down early to make sure you’re in time for the exchange. And if you’re not…nothing’s stopping you from grabbing a few drinks anyway. Hopefully while munching on a cucumber.
