The Bar Awards 2017 Winners- and some Outtakes

This year’s edition of the Bar Awards has come to an end. At the newly revamped Capital at Zouk, industry professionals and some very lucky observers (like ourselves) gathered to honour the finest in the industry.

While we can’t say we’re surprised that the newly-minted winners took home a plaque and a spiffy barrel, it was not something that we could have predicted the outcome of, either. The quality of the bar scene here is simply so high that most of the nominees could have taken the crown. We’ve therefore included the top four nominees for each category- they deserve kudos as well.

There were some genuinely nail biting moments, mixed in with a dollop of good-natured ribbing between the bartenders.  There were also some hilarious moments that we managed to capture, but you’ll have to get to the bottom of this page to find out.

Some Outtakes:

We’d like to thank our friends at The Bar Awards for holding such a dazzling event, and letting us come along for the ride to boot. We’re boundlessly grateful.

Oh, and we promised outtakes, so here they are!

Hosts Tasha Lu and Mark Tay and Bar Awards hero Tron Young ham it up for the camera
Team Singapore won the cocktail shake off. Pictured are Tom Hogan of Proof and Co and Charmaine of 28HKS
Vijay struts his stuff like a true rockstar
While it was Singapore’s show, friends from Bangkok came down to lend a hand. This is Jamie from Bangkok’s highly acclaimed Bamboo
Speaking of friends from other countries, CK Cho from Coley KL shakes up drinks on a hot Saturday afternoon.
We’ve had bubble tea…but this is something more.
When they’re not busy making drinks, bartenders like to dunk each other for charity. Tron gives us a look that suggest he would love to go for another swim.
Rhyse Borland of Sugarhall prepares to walk (or sit) the plank.
Peter Chua of Crackerjack looks on in fear as the young man on the left prepares to soak him (with a bit of help)
Peter seemed to enjoy it, though
