Rémy Martin is one of those companies that we associate strongly with art. Whether it is craft behind cognac making, weaving music into their campaigns, or simply beautiful product design, they always manage to titillate.

So, when they release a special edition of one of their cognacs, we always pay attention.

Rémy Martin x Matt W.Moore VSOP Limited Edition

The latest in their line of special editions is a collaboration between the cognac house and artist Matt W. Moore. Moore is something of a virtuoso, with expertise in illustration, graphic design, and digital art.

He works primarily with vector graphics, using shapes and colours to create visual impact. Moore describes his art as “bold, graphic, optical illusion, sharp, geometric, vector, asymmetry, psychedelic, mosaic, complex, vibrant, and fun”.

His modern sensibilities have been translated into the Rémy Martin Cognac VSOP Fine Champagne.  Though the spirit inside is the same VSOP which we love, the exterior departs from the familiar. While the bottle itself retains its characteristic shape, it has been gorgeously illuminated in vibrant geometric patterns.

It’s instantly recognisable as Moore’s signature style. Energetic and bold. We see it as a modern look for an ancient brand.

Moore himself works with all sorts of surfaces, including print, walls and digital mediums. This last part is particularly important; the new special edition VSOP has its own augmented reality app.

Adding a rainbow to the Merlion using the AR app. If only it wasn’t raining.

It’s a fun curiousity; you simply go out, whip out your phone, add specially designed polygons to a scene, and take pictures. Sadly, it’s only available on iPhones at the moment.

If you’re interested in picking up these little pieces of art, you can get a bottle only at AsherBWS for SGD86 (giftbox version) and SGD106 (coffret version).
